Meeting Families’ Needs
New Family
Services and
Medical Outreach
DSCBA continued to host our Early
Connections support group, moving it to
Zoom, which was great for families farther
from our office who had trouble attending in
person. We added a Spanish-speaking Early
Connections group and are providing Spanish
translation at our other groups, thanks to our
new Bilingual Program & Support Services
Manager, Viviana Meyer.

z 35 Spanish-speaking families

us this year
“Noah just turned one and we have been attending the Early
Connections group with Cathleen [Cathleen Small, Director of New Family
Services] since he was six months old…. Noah recently had some health challenges
and Cathleen immediately connected me with several other families who have
been through the same struggle. This has been a game changer for me in terms
of being able to cope and focus on Noah’s health. The other mothers text me
regularly and even though I have never met them in person, the support I feel
and the connection we have is undeniable. This would never have been possible
without the connections made through the DSCBA.”

“It is 24/7. Parents aren’t always ready to talk right when they get a diagnosis,
but at 10:07 at night they might be—and we’ll take that call.”
-Cathleen Small, Director of Family Services & Medical Outeach
