Education at Home
TEACH Virtual Workshops
The TEACH goal is to provide TRAINING that leads to EMPOWERMENT and ACCESS
to materials while utilizing a COLLABORATIVE approach and fostering at HOME
education success.
The online series has given more families
access to educational workshops, which were
generally presented on-site at our locations in
Danville and on the Peninsula and not always
accessible for busy families who live farther
away. A total of 13 workshops averaged
more than 30 participants each, empowering
families with knowledge and tools to support
their children during distance learning.
Workshop topics included the following:

z Effective Strategies to Help Keep Your
Child Motivated and Engaged to Learn
z Homework Modifications
z Positive Behavior Supports
z Communication Supports for Learners
with Down Syndrome
z Preparing for Your IEP
z Sensory Integration
z Social Skills
z School Readiness Other Education-
z Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
During Distance Learning Focused Training
z Tips to Maximize Participation and
Inclusion for Students with Ds During z Reaching further with virtual
Distance Learning workshops – We conducted two
z Creating an Optimal At-Home Road to Success workshops, including
Learning Environment one for 95 Sacramento-based
registrants; one IEP workshop; and
z An Introduction to DSCBA’s Low Tech one Accommodations & Modifications
Lending Library workshop, all online.
