Steppin’ Out Neighborhood Style
One of two major fundraisers that
keep our organization going is the
Step Up for Down Syndrome walk,
held every year during National Down
Syndrome Awareness month in October.
This event typically brings 1,500 people
together each year to celebrate the abilities
and accomplishments of our members
with Down syndrome. We look forward to
the finish line each year as we yell proudly
about the accomplishments of each
member with Down syndrome who crosses
the line. It is emotional and truly something
to celebrate.
Because of COVID, we sent to the homes
of our members walk boxes filled with
fun donated items thanks to the National
Charity League. We asked our families to
walk in their neighborhoods on the day
of the event, and the next day we held a We are so grateful and thankful for our Silver
