Time to THRIVE
Formerly called the Peer Development Program,
DSCBA recently renamed our flagship program
THRIVE, meaning our participants THRIVE
when they are Together, Happy, Respected,
Independent, Valued, and Empowered.
Maintaining this program was critical for our
members with Down syndrome who look forward
to seeing their friends, building their skills and
confidence, and participating in fun and educational
activities each week. THRIVE is a big part of the
weekly routine for more than 80 of our families.
“THRIVE has been the highlight of Emma’s
week—it’s a huge release for her especially during
shelter-in-place. She truly enjoys and looks forward
to chatting with her peers. Every now and then, I can
hear her on the call—I get a big smile and it warms
my heart. I am so grateful the group continued
meeting on Zoom.”

“Liam, age 14, has really enjoyed
the THRIVE online class this fall. It
is meeting a real social need that he has
during this shelter-in-place. It is also giving
him an opportunity to build relationships
with other teenagers who have Down
syndrome like him, since he is the only
student with Down syndrome at his
school.”
